What this service covers

Framed photographs / prints, items larger than A4, Photo Albums, panoramic prints and photo display wallets.

Prices are per framed photograph or per page if we are scanning a complete album.

Framed Photographs

We generally try to remove a photograph from the frame (if possible) before scanning, if this is not possible then each photograph scan is cropped so you only receive the photo and not the frame border.

Extra large or panoramic prints

Photographs, prints or documents larger than A4, such as panoramic school photographs, will have to be scanned in sections and then digitally stitched together. The cost for this is £15.00 per image.

Photographs Albums

Ideally all photographs should be removed from an album before scanning and scanned with our loose photograph scanning service, though this isn't always possible.

Each page will be scanned as a whole page so any associated writing on the page will be included in the scan. We also have an option to crop each photo from the page so you receive the individual images. This is a time consuming process so is charged at an additional 15p per photograph.

Photographs Wallets

Photos held in wallets should ideally be removed from the wallet prior to sending them to us, the loose photos can then be scanned as loose photos using our quicker and lower cost scanning service. We can remove, scan and return the photos back into the wallets for you, but it is always best for you to remove the photos before sending them to us.

Grouping the images

Each batch of images will be placed into named folder, using either the given description or a unique incrementing number.

Convert your old photos into digital images

We use the latest high quality dedicated photo scanners that are designed specifically for scanning photographs. They produce a high quality digital image.

Also, all our photograph scans are at the higher resolution of 600dpi as standard, meaning you get a larger image size along with the best quality possible.

We convert them to digital images that allow you to share them easily with family and friends, either by email, social media such as Facebook or using our free online storage and viewing system.

What do we mean by a Loose Photo?

Loose photos are bundles or packs of photographs that are not mounted in a frame or glued to a board. Photographs held within photo wallets are processed with our Album / Mounted print scanning service.

Do I have to count them?

There is no need to count them precisely, as we always adjust the invoice to cover the exact number of photographs scanned. Counting thousands of photos is a daunting and tedious task, but as a rule of thumb a regular shoe box generally holds around 1000 stacked photographs. This will help you to estimate the total number of photographs you have.

Are the scans good quality?

The scanners produce a high quality duplication of the original images, so any defects on the original photograph will also appear on the scanned image. These defects, marks or lines will be magnified when viewed on a screen making them more pronounced. Don't forget, you cannot compare the quality of an old print to todays modern digital images.

How to help us

When placing your photographs or documents into groups, please ensure that the front faces of all the images are facing the same way. Sorting the items ourselves is very time consuming and can lead to the images being out of sequence.

All items should be free from staples, paper clips, adhesive pads, blu-tac, debris (such as album backing paper or glue residue) or any other foreign object that may damage our scanners.
